Removal of Pyrrhotite from High-Sulphur Tailings Utilising Non-Oxidative H2SO4 Leaching

چکیده

Tailings are a residual material stream produced in the mineral processing of ores. They may contain major sulphide content that increases risk acid rock drainage (ARD) but also host valuable metals. Tank bioleaching is technically viable method to treat tailings. However, significant pyrrhotite cause increased and oxidant consumption result longer retention times process. In this work, non-oxidative H2SO4 leaching studied for high-sulphur tailings, both as pre-treatment consider recovery possibilities Fe S. Continuous mode validation tests, conducted at 90 °C, pH 1.0 106 min time, resulted complete dissolution with 427 kg/t (as 95% H2SO4). Unwanted Ni Zn was taking place yield 21.5% 13.5%, respectively, while Co Cu negligible. The continuous tests signalled by shortening could be dramatically decreased. H2S-rich gas stream, which utilised later metals’ processes after precipitate (CoNi)S, ZnS CuS products. FeSO4 solution, approximately 20 g/L Fe.

Recovery of Copper from Copper Slag and Copper Slag Flotation Tailings by Oxidative Leaching

Copper smelter slag and copper smelter slag flotation tailings were leached using sulphuric acid solutions, without or with the addition of either ferric sulphate or hydrogen peroxide. Copper extraction from the slag was typically found to be twice as high as that from the slag flotation tailings. Hydrogen peroxide was determined to be the best lixiviant. Thus, copper and iron extractions were ...

Iron Removal from Kaolins by Bacterial Leaching

Weathering of rocks generated large volumes of kaolin clays, quartz sands and micas, as well as other minerals, especially iron and titanium oxides. Kaolin is an economically important raw material often used in wide variety of ceramic applications, from high quality tableware and sanitaryware to electrical porcelain, tiles and glasses. There are some less common uses including glass fibre, whi...

Production of Nanosized Synthetic Rutile from Ilmenite Concentrate by Sonochemical HCl and H2SO4 Leaching

Titanium dioxide is widely used in the manufacturing of paints, varnishes, lacquer, paper, paperboard, printing inks, rubber, floor covering, and ceramics and so on. White titanium dioxide pigment has been produced by two main processes. The sulfate and the chloride processes. Each of these two routes requires different feedstocks. However, economic and environmental pressures are shifting ...

Comparison of Processes for Lithium Recovery from Lepidolite by H2SO4 Digestion or HCl Leaching

Lithium is becoming a strategic metal due to its important applications in secondary battery electrodes used in electronic appliances and also in electric traction vehicles. Lithium primary resources are brines and rock minerals, the former being nowadays almost exclusively used in the production of lithium commodities. With the expected increase in lithium demand, the development of competitiv...

Economic and Technical Perspectives of Chlorine and Sulphur Removal from Product Gas (Non-confidential version)

This project has the objective to investigate the economic and technical perspectives for the replacement of woody biomass with non-woody biomass in a biomass gasification process. Non-woody biomass fuels like straw, manure and sludge are cheap fuels with an increased chlorine, sulphur and ash content. A representative biomass composition for non-woody biomass is 13 wt% ash, 0.3 wt% chlorine an...
